Connecticut Towing Laws

Signage Requirements
Any owner or lessee of private commercial property must install conspicuous signage stating that motor vehicles may be towed from the property.
Private Property Rules
Property owner, lessee, or their agent may remove a vehicle left without authorization. A licensed tower must have express authorization from the property owner/lessee/agent. The tower must notify the local police department within 24 hours of removal.
How to File a Complaint
Contact the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, which establishes maximum allowable rates for non-consensual towing and storage.
