Connecticut Towing Laws
- Signage Requirements
- Any owner or lessee of private commercial property must install conspicuous signage stating that motor vehicles may be towed from the property.
- Private Property Rules
- Property owner, lessee, or their agent may remove a vehicle left without authorization. A licensed tower must have express authorization from the property owner/lessee/agent. The tower must notify the local police department within 24 hours of removal.
- How to File a Complaint
- Contact the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, which establishes maximum allowable rates for non-consensual towing and storage.
